Gold Star / Dumbing Down

I want a gold star for being a great lover. If there is an award for never having a man inside me, then I want a party and every woman there has to dance with me; and draw numbers to see which day they have to take me out to lunch.

Actress Kelly McGillis said "I'm done with the man thing.

And of course some have used Kelly's public statement about her personal journey to try to support their reason for not approving of equal rights for LGBT people. Someone even seem to think homosexuality is a "race".

I have never had sexual intercourse with a man. I have on more than one occasion written that fact because I know that there are some "queer haters" reading SPT, so I'm trying to stress that I don't need a man in my bed or inside my body to be a woman and be happy. I am a woman regardless that a man does not dominate my life. I think for myself and do what I want, including loving women (when lucky) and I'm truly not sorry that this seems to bother some small minded individuals who obviously have very little going on in their own lives since they are so interested in who is in my bed.

Hey Kelly, I'm single, click SALTY and say hello. And you don't have to dye your hair. (wink!!!)

Kelly doesn't get a gold star and who the F**K cares that she married men and now at the age of 51 publicly says that she likes women. More and more women are starting to embrace their complete sexuality which I think is wonderful and not only because the dating pool is enlarging for me, HA! (Late-in-Life Lesbians)

View Sounds Off on Lesbian Love
Take a look at The View video where 4 female heterosexuals stupidly discuss why women have sexual relationships with women. I thought it was totally insulting and disgusting that they even attempted to discuss this topic. And they acted like they were purposely trying to show how heterosexual they are by not understand homosexuality.

I really don't like saying bad things about women but please, these 4 sounded like idiots, and the younger blond sounded like a sheltered barbie doll who still wasn't allowed to read anything but fairytales. Did she not get the memo so that she could at least have read some blogs by lesbians or somethin to educate herself on a topic she had the nerve to attempt to discuss? And the older blond sounded even worst. The one right of the older blond, at least brought up sexual attraction, while the one left of the younger blond, made the discussion mostly about her. Maybe she was trying to convenience someone she wasn't sexually attracted to her women friends. The only one in the group who could have possible said something intelligent about this topic, was not part of the idiot discussion. Feel better Whoopie.

Now me, if I want to know something, I at least will try to find information and if possible go directly to the source. Now Melissa Etheridge and Rachel Maddow have been on The View, so why not have both of them on the show and have an honest discussion about lesbians with actual lesbians. Both of those women would have made all 4 of them look even more like idiots.

Okay, I'll stop now because I was about to write something really nasty and I will not let that idiot video warp me like that.

What the heck, this is my space. To the 4 View women, lesbians do more to each other than the 2 second tv kiss. We have sex with women, we fuck each other and enjoy it. It is a pity that at least 3 of you seem to know little about love, lust and passion. Read a lesbian novel written by a real lesbian. Browse a few real lesbian websites and attempt to educate yourself, so if you are at a tea party with your heterosexual friends, and for some reason the topic is about lesbians, you will at least sound like you know what you are talking about. Oh wait, maybe that was the whole point of the idiot remarks, you don't want to sound like you know anything about this particular topic.

For a show featuring women, I think The View misrepresent American women. I've seen 3 or 4 episodes of View and unfortunately, these women just didn't 'dumb down" for the lesbian discussion.

Okay, I listened to the video again and I have to make a correction. One of the View women did seem to have read something about women who "come out later in life". I think she is a comedian and had better skills than Walters who has a journalist background.

Barbara Walters actually asked 3 heterosexual women: What do you think that a relationship with another woman gives you that a man does not?

It is a damn shame that when there is a discussion about women in relationships with women that 4 heteroseuxals were the ones doing the talking.

  1. Salty you are on a hot roll and I like it. The show does sound very idiotic. Asking women who swear they aren't lesbians ..why women are attracted to women. Heck, maybe they should ask white women why some black women wear dreadlocks and some don't.

Salty, you hit the head on the nail.

  2. SteadyCat. I shouldn't let purposeful ignorance get to me but when I'm tired, it grates on my nerves. Those 4 women are regulars on the show, 3 Whites and 1 Black. Not much diversity considering it is an American Show. Now if I was to stand on a hill top and only looked in one direction, I'd miss most of the view. Having 4 females who general are of the same type, is equivalent to all 4 being on a hill top and looking in the same direction and every once in a while, one will shift her eyes but will not turn her head. Sometimes I think a few heads need a nail in it so that a sprinkle of common sense can seep directly into the brain.

The Agenda-Civil Rights

Support for the LGBT Community: While we have come a long way since the Stonewall riots in 1969, we still have a lot of work to do. Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It's about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect. Federal law should not discriminate in any way against gay and lesbian couples. ... young & old, rich & poor, democrat & republican, black white hispanic asian native american gay straight disable and not disable ... we are and always will be the United States of America. --Barack Obama, (More)
