A dad sues because his teenage sons are having nightmares after reading a book in the public library. The book was a lesbian sex guide. They were looking for books about the military.
Do I dare say that if teenage boys are scared of lesbian sex, then maybe they are gay? Is that why dad is so upset.
Or maybe they're scared that they will not be able to satisfy a woman.
Seriously, I want to know why they read it, they are not lesbians. L comes before M, so while browsing the shelf, they came upon it (or was purposely looking for something with lesbian content). The titles are on the book spines. Nobody forced the teens to open the book and read it. So why should the book be banned from the library, which is not fair to people who want to read it. If I say that I don't like what was in those military books, would they be banned. The teens are old enough to look for books about the military (weapons-killing-war), but they are scared of sex.
Public libraries are funded by government dollars, which means tax payers. And gay people pay taxes, so there should be literature in the public library that would be of interest to us.
Are dads going to be banned from buying magazines and videos and cable that have images of women having sex with other women. Notice that I didn't say lesbian sex. Some would define lesbian sex as sex between women. In my view, women having sex together is not lesbian sex if they are not lesbians.

The Agenda-Civil Rights
Support for the LGBT Community: While we have come a long way since the Stonewall riots in 1969, we still have a lot of work to do. Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It's about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect. Federal law should not discriminate in any way against gay and lesbian couples. ... young & old, rich & poor, democrat & republican, black white hispanic asian native american gay straight disable and not disable ... we are and always will be the United States of America. --Barack Obama, (More)
