Mind On Overload

Okay, I'm calmer than I was the last post. First off, I'm not Jewish, Muslim or christian so I don't follow their orders. That doesn't mean I don't have my ideas about God. Some of you are probably thinking the cross is too big, but I wanted to stress the heaviness of bearing that weight. Wearing that symbol on a chain around necks for all to see proclaims faith. I don't wear one. But I carry the weight of trying to lift God's name without preaching at people. I treat everyone like they are family. And I wanted the red marks to be visible, because whether people believe in Jesus or not, a man was tortured and executed for teaching some things that were different than the standard religious doctrine. Some are thinking this blog deals with a subject where religion doesn't fit. But it very well does because religious institutions use their money to make laws that are against my sexuality which means they are against me. And as a result, I am denied legal rights while cold-blooded murders can get legally married.

What set me off -- in the past 2 or 3 weeks, someone commented at SPT that gays hated Jesus and we were going to hell. I also recently read that a girl tried to commit suicide and her girlfriend has to hide her feelings. And on top of that was the California judges upholding Prop 8. Religious institutions offer gay kids no hope and the government make laws that support religious doctrine. My mind was on overload.

NOTICE BOARD

Hi SPT readers. I haven't posted anything new in several months. I don't want to post about political issues so until I'm inspired with something new or finish a story ....

Feel free to post comments about something you have read at SPT because I do like hearing from my readers even if it is just a hello. I don't put up my email address because I already get mail from people trying to sell me Viagra which goes straight to the Junk box. :) I do receive notification when someone has made a comment at SPT and I will respond as soon as I can. Thank you for visiting. -S

The Agenda-Civil Rights

Support for the LGBT Community: While we have come a long way since the Stonewall riots in 1969, we still have a lot of work to do. Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It's about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect. Federal law should not discriminate in any way against gay and lesbian couples. ... young & old, rich & poor, democrat & republican, black white hispanic asian native american gay straight disable and not disable ... we are and always will be the United States of America. --Barack Obama, (More)
